I look at last-update dates before I buy. Odoo Product Restriction on Users is clearly looked after. Combined with usable docs, that is why it beat a cheaper abandoned add-on.

I checked overrides after installing Product Restriction on Users. It did not spray files everywhere. Easier to live with on Odoo, which we still update ourselves.

Odoo Product Restriction on Users is not trying to be a whole new admin. It adds the piece we were missing and stays out of the way. That is harder to find than it sounds.
